Three months. Five pre-seed companies building in India. An operator inside each one, a villa, and $200k on the table.
Grit Surge is a twelve-week programme for companies that are early enough to still be shaped and serious enough to want to be. Some arrive with a product and a handful of users. Some arrive with a repo and a conviction. Both are fine.
What we care about is what the twelve weeks do to you. In that time we want your revenue to look different, your pricing to be right, your first hires to be in place, and your next raise to be a conversation you control rather than one you chase.
This is the part that makes Surge different from every programme built on office hours.
Every company is allocated a dedicated operator who has done this before. Not a mentor with a fortnightly slot — someone working on your pipeline, your pricing, your first hires and your numbers, in your tools, with their name on the outcome.
Most programmes advise on a schedule. We execute alongside you and take the same view of the result that you do.
Twelve weeks split three ways: six days offline in a villa, four days of meetups, and remote for the rest.
The offline days are the ones that change things. You live and work alongside ex-founders, investors, operators and creators — the people whose calls you would otherwise spend two years trying to get returned. It is built to give you room to think and pressure to move, at the same time. It also happens to be an unusually good place to make content.
$200,000 goes to one company at the end of the twelve weeks — the one we believe is most likely to keep the pace beyond week twelve.
One is guaranteed. It is not a cap. If the growth curve holds we are open to funding all five — directly, through the mandate, off the back of Demo Day, or through the network. We would rather back everyone who earns it than manufacture a competition.
What comes with the programme, from day one:
Our marketing operators have run this for dozens of companies. During Surge you get:
The first three hires decide most of what happens next, and founders at this stage almost always make at least one of them badly.
We source for you — technical talent, executives, advisors and specialists — from a curated network, and we sit in on the decision. Hiring into a company with real pipeline is also a great deal easier than hiring into a plan, which is part of why we do it in month three rather than month one.
A two-day in-person start to the batch. You meet the other four founders, your operator, and the Grit team properly before any work begins.
Every week we bring in someone from the startup world, usually a founder who has been where you are. Strictly off the record, because the real version of most startup stories is considerably more useful than the version told later in public.
Grit's own show, where founders pitch in front of VCs and comedians. It is a genuine social hazard and it puts you in front of 5M+ viewers. Surge companies get access to every public show and priority on the shortlist.
When you have something ready, we work out how to put it in front of users and press — Product Hunt, Hacker News, first press pitches, first interviews.
B2B and consumer companies routinely find their first 40–50 paying customers inside the Grit network. You get customers and the sharpest early product feedback available at the same time.
At the end of the twelve weeks you present to a room of specifically selected investors. In the weeks after, we stay close while you negotiate — and we frequently talk to the investors ourselves to work out what they actually meant, which is rarely what they said.
We do not hold office hours. Book time whenever you need it, including after the programme ends.
Founders who finish Surge stay in the network. That means 500+ domain experts who take your call, and a culture of actually answering — which has been the point since the beginning.
Every Surge company also gets discounts and free accounts across 20+ products, including substantial free hosting from major cloud providers.
Grit Surge is a paid-to-enroll cohort.
Shortlisted companies receive an open invitation to accept a payment mandate of $1,300 for the complete programme.
We are direct about why. The fee is not how Grit makes money — it is how we find out who is serious. A founder who will not put $1,300 behind twelve weeks that are designed to take them from zero to $500k inside a year is telling us something useful, early, and at very little cost to either of us.
Consider it the last filter rather than a price.
It is not for companies past seed or above ₹1 Cr raised, services businesses presented as product, D2C and commerce, or founders who would rather we stayed out of the way.
Applications close 10 September 2026. The programme begins 1 October.
One 15-minute screening call, then a 30-minute conversation with the founders. No deck required — bring the problem, not the pitch. If you are not right for this, we will tell you on the call.
